Description
Original WW2 USAAF 330th grouping belonging to Flight Engineer MSGT William “Bill” Lower S/N 17001062 who served in both the European and Pacific theaters. MSGT Bill Lower records show he was last assigned to the B-29 “Shillelagh Highman” K-10 during the Pacific theater, in addition to be assigned within the 457th BG and the 330th Bomb SQDN during the European campaign.
This grouping includes MSGT Bill Lower’s USAAF aviator’s summer flight cap, headset with plug, aviators glasses, 330th linen bag, 330th BOMB SQDN leather campaign/jacket patch, Air Crew, Gunners and Flight Engineers sterling wings, and his 8th & 20th Air Force patches.
The summer flight cap had some minor stains and the two adjustment tabs on the back have broken loose (they are being held in place with 2 pins- see pics). The headset and plug are intact and in terrific condition. The top of the headset is named to “MSGT BILL LOWERS”. The flight cap and headset will ship as displayed with the mannequin head. The 330th squadron patch is really unique and very rare. These particular jacket patches were “unofficial” and handmade in Britain for members of the 330th BOMB SQDN. The linen sack is marked 330th and has some staining, otherwise there are no rips or tears. The (3) sterling Air Crew/Gunner & Flight Engineer wing pins are all in excellent condition. The aviator glasses are believed to be produced by Bausch & Lomb and are in terrific shape as are both the 8th and 20th air force patches. An amazing USAAF grouping with provenance!
